What is health coaching?
Great question! Health coaching is a new innovative way of health. We use behavioral change techniques and motivational interviewing to help and meet you where you are at currently to get you where you want to go. The coolest part of health coaching is that, its a personalized plan, no judgment zone, and it focuses on lasting lifestyle change!
- we create a vision and goal for your life/ health
- we then create a plan to get there
- we meet up each month and assess how your action steps went
not what you thought?
Coaching, like I mentioned, is way different than any other approach you have taken. it is not a diet plan, fitness plan, or weight loss plan but rather, it is a way of working with the mindset.
For example, if your goal is weight loss, we will figure out the underlying reasons why its happening, why you want to accomplish that, and what ways you find success.
I believe you are resourceful and we work together to create a holistic lifestyle plan for you! What do I mean by this? well, there are so many aspects of health that are not taken into play when you buy cookie-cutter programs. Yes, influencers do this but so do health care systems. They do not take into account the whole person which is what holistic care is.
You get to decide what works and what doesn’t! this will in turn create high self-esteem, confidence, and better results for you!
We focus on making small steps to create an entire lifestyle shift. making new habits is really hard to do and it needs an empathetic and supportive approach which is where I come in. Now, I’m all for a good program now and then but, will that really help you long term? is it sustainable? will it allow you to make those changes for life or is it for a quick fix?
Coaching is not therapy but rather, a forward way of thinking and doing that helps you to accomplish your goals and create lasting vibrant lifestyle changes.
What does a health coach do?
A health coach uses techniques to help you sort through your thoughts. We use behavior change techniques like motivational interviewing, positive psychology, reframing, affirming, smart goal setting, empathy, and reflections.
A really cool thing about coaching is that we work with the client. it is a collaborative process! Let’s be honest, you know how to lose weight, what to eat, that you need to exercise, but you just don’t know how to actually get in the process of doing it because of XYZ. As a coach, we look deep into the motivation and create a plan to help you finally get there!
Coaching is a non-cookie cutter approach to health that puts you in the driver’s seat. We go at your pace and assess the stage of change you are in. Many experts try to tell you what to do and lecture you, with coaching we acknowledge YOU as the expert.
You are the expert of your own life.
Do you write fitness or nutrition plans?
As exciting as it is to hear about health coaching and all the things it can do for you, creating meal plans and fitness plans is not something a coach can do unless they hold certifying credentials in that area.
Be very wary of coaches who offer any nutrition, fitness, medical advice, etc. in their programs. They might not hold proper credentials in those areas and are thus violating the NBHWC Code of Ethics. Be wary of influencers without accreditation as well that are “nutritionists”, “fitness gurus”, and other coaches who are not certified.
Dieticians must go through rigorous schooling and are experts in nutrition, they are also board certified and have to take an intensive exam just to make sure they know their stuff!

To answer the question, I do not offer these because I do not have the required credentials though I do have extensive knowledge in physical activity and nutrition as part of my education to become a health coach.

- every time you have tried another program be it, whole30, paleo, detox, keto, veganism etc, it never lasts and you feel like you have failed… (just so you know, you havent failed! you have just learned what doesnt work for you my friend ๐)

What is your approach to health?
I have a holistic view of health. I believe in allowing professionals into areas of our health as well where we are struggling. Our lifestyle is our medicine in that aspects of our lives like nutrition, physical activity, stress, occupational health, substance abuse and social/ mental health all play a part in our health- not just diet and exercise. I also believe that we have the answers to our health and that God should be involved in our health decisions.
I also believe that many people overthink health and put their bodies through intensives that they don’t need to. we should be kind to our bodies and show gratitude instead of disapproval.
We are so hard on ourselves and we shouldn’t be. We live in a world that is broken and continually tries to tell us that we are not good enough when in fact we are (yay!).
Our environments are also key to our success. if we aren’t set up in a thriving environment, we will not have the health we deserve. there are many social determinants of health that determine how we are set up for success that you can check out here.
I also believe we do not have enough health programs that put YOU in the driver seat! even when the *insert whoever here* tells you its personalized, they still tell you what to do. They don’t believe we have the answers to be resilliant and resourceful with our own lives and.
We have many skills, strengths, unique past experiences, and so much more to offer to ourselves than excessive knowledge, apps, plans, and rules ever will!
Along with faith, flexibility, and environments these are also some of my approaches & thoughts:
- you don’t need to diet all the time to be healthy
- you are beauitful at any stage of your journey
- you are in control of what you put in your body
- its okay to eat those foods you have punished yourself for eating.
- coping with emotions show up in interesting ways
- getting professional help in areas of health are crucial.
- if other aspects of health are out of wack, physical, mental and emotional health will be too.
- giving your body, yourself, and others love is much needded. you were created for a purpose that is so much more than dieting or exercising to oblivian.
- mindful and intuitive eating are incredibly helpful for those who have had issues with overeating in the past.
- tracking food can help you become mindful and intuitive- so long as its not obsessive
- accepting and learning from your “stumbling blocks” wil help you and has helped you be the person you are today
- physcial activity should be enjoyable, and fun- not a chore!
- we need to stop looking at fear as something to be scared of and something to instead look at for courage
- having a “why” for why you are going on a health journey will be crucial for getting to your destination
- health is truely a journey- not a destination
What does Faith have to do with health?
I am a firm believer of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is my king and my God, redeemer, and of course, best friend. When I was struggling with my own weight problems, food problems, perfectionist mindset, and other health obsessions, He was the One who brought me peace and helped me to be kinder to my body.
in fact, since coaching involves being kind, empathetic and a good listener, I’ve really come to be familiar with Ephesians 4:32:
“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”

When we lack purpose, it can be really difficult to obtain change and any abundant life. We become stuck and stubborn in our ways and blind to the poor things we are doing to others and ourselves.
I am a firm believer that we cannot do it alone. We need His sovereign help because sometimes, it’s not a willpower problem-its a sin problem. When we are choosing to engage in behaviors we know are not glorifying to Him, it affects our bodies physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. He cares about every aspect of your life- even your health!
However, when we include Him in on our health journeys, we have more abundance, and fulfillment in all that we do.

You will be prompted to ask a few lovely questions. After that, you will schedule your time for us to talk.
02. Call
We will discuss some of the struggles you are going through and where you would like to be. We will also take a few minutes to get to know each other.
03. Hear more
You will hear a little bit about the programs that I have to offer you based on your challenges. From there, you will be able to pay for your coaching, and we can then get started!
04. Get excited
Breathe. your new health journey has just begun and there is no pressure. You just have to show up and be willing to try this new thing for yourself and for God!
